Method Description:
Testing reports values for nitrate and nitrite. The sample is extracted with ammonium chloride prior to analysis. Any undissolved solids and fat is then separated from the sample extract containing nitrate and nitrite. Analysis is performed on FIA which involves passing the extract through a cellulose acetate dialysis membrane prior to the reduction of nitrate to nitrite via a copperised cadmium column. Nitrate concentration is calculated by subtracting nitrite from total oxidised nitrogen.
