Method Description:
Testing reports values for vitamin C (ascorbic acid). Vitamin C is oxidized to dehydroascorbic acid by activated charcoal. Then dehydroascorbic acid reacts with o-phenylenediamine to form a fluorescent product. The fluorescence intensity is measured at excitation and emission of 350 nm and 430 nm by fluorescent spectrophotometer. The content of vitamin C can be determined by external calibration method.
